REJOICE! NEW ORLEANS GOSPEL MUSICAL
follows ViVi, an enticingly beautiful, yet sometimes clumsy and naive young widowed, church going mother. She lives with her loving parents and children in New Orleans during the seventies.
ViVi hopes to marry her handsome but somewhat immature college football star Will, whom she loves but also believes her marriage will help ease her father’s financial burdens during the recent recession.
The unexpected death of her father forces ViVi to fend for her family and despite her mother’s warning, she winds up working for a local bar owner, Dante. Although she’s not a good dancer, he promises with practice they can win the National Disco Contest with a big cash prize. What she doesn’t know is Dante is the Devil in disguise engaged in a bet for her soul with the Celestial and loveable Rastafarian, the Lion of Judah. A successful win in the contest may not be what she really needs.
